News: AudioCube Beta Launched!
AudioCube is finally ready for public beta testing! After many years locked away in the development oven, the time has finally come for AudioCube to be released to the public…
This newsletter explains AudioCube’s background, the purpose of the beta, and how you can get involved!
TL;DR - AudioCUbe Beta
AudioCube is a new 3D audio application.
It’s designed for experimental music composition and intuitive audio spatialization.
I’m seeking beta testers to shape the next stage of development.
Sign up for the free beta here: AudioCube Beta Registration (The Beta has ended!)
But what exactly is AudioCube?
Some of you reading this might not be clear on what AudioCube is, so let me explain…
AudioCube is a 3D DAW - a spatial audio workstation. It’s a piece of audio software (for Mac or Windows) that gives users a virtual acoustic space to create and play with sound.
AudioCube has several functions and purposes, including:
Giving users an easy system for spatializing audio.
Experiment with physics-based interactive audio devices.
Providing a new system for sequencing.
Open a new dimension for composition and sound design.
I’ve designed it in a way to be flexible, taking inspiration from software like Ableton Live and implementing it in a 3D space.
Words only do so much justice, so I recommend you check out this video, and the rest of the site!
Who Will Enjoy AUdioCube?
I think that in its current state, AudioCube requires a basic level of understanding in the fields of music production and theory. You should at least know what a filter is, and a C#…
Here are some of the people I imagine will have an interest in this software
Musicians and music producers
Experimental/ambient music composers
Sound designers
Spatial audio engineers
Mix engineers
It has several systems that will be familiar to anybody who has worked with music software before, including:
Sampling devices
Synthesis
Pitch, melody, and harmony
Effects and mixing desks
Recording equipment
Mastering
What is the Purpose of the Beta?
I’m doing this beta test for a few reasons:
Stability Testing, Bugs, & QA - While the software runs pretty smoothly for me, it might not be the same for everyone’s machine.
Usability - I’ve made this software over the last 4 years alone, and haven’t shared it with many other people. I love it, and find it pretty easy to use… But I did make it, so maybe I’m a bit biased here?
Feedback - I’m now looking for more input on the future direction of development. I want other people to get involved with ideas and direction.
Community Building - The spatial audio scene is a new community, so I’m looking to find everybody involved and bring them together.
How can I get involved in beta testing?
If you want to take part in the AudioCube Beta Test, please apply in touch via this Beta Registration Form.
I’ll be in touch within 24 hours, to give you your beta account and all the information. The beta account removes any limitations of the free version.
What platforms is AudioCube available on?
AudioCube is currently available on Windows (10 or higher) and MacOS (Intel & Silicon) machines.
I would like to bring it Android and iOs at a later stage. I’ve been testing it on an iPad and it’s a lot of fun on a big touch screen! But it’s not ready yet :(
What is the pricing for AudioCube?
The beta will be free to all users. Currently AudioCube is available as a subscription for £5.99 a month, or it can be bought one-off for £69.
These prices are subject to change down the line. I need to see if this is a fair price.
There is a free version that gives access to the core features, but it has limitations.
Finally…
If you want to get involved with the AudioCube Beta, sign up via the Beta Registration Form. The Beta has now ended! Thanks to everyone who took part.
I’m really excited to share this project with you. It’s been a long and tricky journey, and now I’m ready to see what people think! I’ve been working on AudioCube for over 4 years and had to learn a lot of skills to make it possible. It started literally as a dream I had one night, and now it’s here…
Looking forward to hearing from you,
~Noah
