Update - v25.2.5 Released
I’m excited to announce the release of Audiocube v25.2.5 - a brand-new update that I’ve been working on over the last couple of months.
With a growing user base, I’ve received even more feedback and ideas, which helped me add new features, fix bugs, and improve the overall experience.
In this article, I’ll explain what’s new and give you a sneak peek at what’s in development for future updates.
Audiocube v25.2.5 Patch Notes
The main goal of this update was to streamline complex processes, make the user interface more intuitive, remove some paywalls for a better free experience, and lay the groundwork for major upcoming features (like multichannel support, more formats, MIDI, etc.).
Free Version
I’ve removed several paywalls so free users can explore more of Audiocube’s functionality.
You can now fully save and load projects.
You have greater control over the sequencer.
A few other previously locked features are now unlocked.
Floating Control Bar
I redesigned the UI to include a movable, floating control bar.
This prevents excessive menu diving and keeps important controls front and center.
Improved Browser
The file browser window and system have been upgraded for a cleaner look, so you can focus on finding the files you need.
The browser now auto-detects imported audio, removing the need for a refresh button.
You can jump directly to recordings and saves folders from within the browser, making it easier to import your Audiocube recordings back into the engine.
I also exposed the saves folder to the browser, so you can directly import saved project scenes. This essentially acts as a preset load/save system—save smaller setups and reimport them into other projects.
Improved User Account & Login System
I’ve (hopefully) fixed the confusing nightmare of the old account and login system. It should all make sense now!
Camera Controls
I added improved on-screen camera controls to pave the way for tablet and mobile versions.
I’ve already started experimenting with Audiocube on my iPad—it’s a lot of fun!
Cleaner UI
I spent a lot of time polishing the UI for smoother performance and a more refined aesthetic.
It’s generally less cluttered and more streamlined, working hand-in-hand with the new floating control bar.
Bug Fixes
Auto Font Size: The screen now automatically detects DPI and scales the resolution accordingly, preventing tiny text.
Moving Devices Through UI: I added UI blocking to prevent accidentally moving devices through panels.
Tooltip Update: I updated all tooltip text so it accurately describes each function.
And More: There are plenty of smaller fixes and tweaks I won’t list here.
I didn’t add many new features this time because I focused on improving the overall experience and usability.
What I’m Working on Next
With more users, I have a better idea of which features you want most. Based on your feedback, here’s what I’m prioritizing:
Multi-Channel Output
Enabling playback on surround and other multichannel speaker setups.
I’ll be releasing a white paper soon to discuss the complexities.
Realtime Audio I/O
Connecting Audiocube to other DAWs (like a VST) so you can stream audio in and out.
This is exciting but intricate. I have a rough prototype, and a white paper is on the way.
Export to Other Formats
Providing a way to export processed files in formats with more spatial encoding than .wav.
This is also complex. I need to research what formats would be the best - then I’ll publish a white paper on it.
MIDI
I’ve experimented with MIDI keyboard and controller connections.
I’m still figuring out the best implementation, so more R&D is coming soon.
Mobile & Tablet Versions
I’ve been working on these versions for a while and have resolved most technical hurdles.
I now need a touchscreen-friendly UI. Expect Audiocube on Android, iOS, and iPadOS soon!
Dev Tracker
I plan to create a dedicated page showing the status of upcoming features.
All of these are hefty projects, so I wanted to roll out a range of smaller, quality-of-life updates first before diving too deep into these bigger tasks. They’re my next objectives—stay tuned!
Thank you for your continued support and feedback. I can’t wait to share more as I keep refining Audiocube!
