Project Roadmap & Planned Features

This page displays features that are in the pipeline - displaying what has been added based on requests, and what is coming soon.

Many of these features have been requested via the Feedback & Feature Suggestion Form.

September 26th, 2024 - New Development Cycle Incoming!

I’m starting a new development period. Over the last month’s I’ve been collecting user feedback. I now have a long list of ideas and features to add. I will be working on these through October, and should hopefully have a huge update coming by the end of the month!

  • Increased generative functionality - I’m working on a completly new system for generative sequencing.

  • MIDI Creation - I’m looking into ways of creating MIDI files from the generative sequencing.

  • Integrated core sound library - While you can download the sound library, I’m working on a system to install it from within the app. This will make Audiocube easier to use, and give you sounds to work with from the start. This also opens up options for releasing Audiocube on iOs, Android, and in the web browser.

  • Simplified Devices - New, easier devices for jamming. Drum, Bass, Instrument “presets” so users can get started easier.

  • Share your Projects - With an integrated core library, it will make it easier for users to share their projects!

  • More Effects - I’ve been building some fun custom audio effects to play with, expanding the range of sound processing options.

  • And more… I’ll share other details soon!

July 29th 2024 - Proper Timeline System WIP (It’s ugly but its a start! Should be finished and working in the next version)

  • Improved Audio Spatialization (Added!) - I’ve been working on integrating better spatial audio simulation, which creates a more realistically spatialized audio output! It sounds great, and will be in the next update. This This will give sounds a better sense of directionality and localization.

  • Timeline Editor & Sequencer (In Progress) - I would like to implement a more comprehensive timeline editor and sample sequencing system. This could work like a traditional DAW timeline. There is a lot to consider here, and I need input from users to work out the best approach.

  • Randomization & Generative Features - More generative features will be implemented. For example, being able to create random devices with random audio from a select pool, throughout a specified area of a project.

  • Automation (In Progress) - To be able to control and automate parameters over time. This could be things like effects and audio control values, to the placement of sounds being animated.

  • 3D Effects Processor Devices (In Progress) - Much like the audio devices, effects can be spatialized, meaning that you could create ‘effects zones’ that can be moved around, and manipulate objects that enter/exit their field.

  • Synthesis - I am working on some synthesizer algorithms, which could be used to make a spatial synthesizer device.

  • Improved Recording - The recording device does the job, but it is a bit basic. This could be made more robust. For example, being able to render files in surround sound formats (if the demand is there).

  • Multi-Channel Output - I would like to enable the option for AudioCube to integrate directly with multi speaker setups and multi-channel audio interfaces to create live, surround sound manipulation.

  • Walls & Environments (Added!) - Give users the ability to create walls, rooms, and environments to better simulate certain spaces.

  • More Physics Instruments and Interaction

  • A larger included audio sample library

  • Improved library and file management - Added!

  • Improved save and load system - Added!

  • Package and export/import projects to other machines

  • MIDI Support - Maybe? It would be cool to have some kind of MIDI device support, but I am not sure what the best way for it to work is. I have got MIDI keyboards working, but I’m experimenting with different interaction styles.

*These points require additional user feedback to shape in the most suitable way, have your say on the feedback board!
